Every Friday for two months, NewBridges employees Mildred Delgado and Theresa Ruggiero have been meeting for coffee, pastries, and to practice their language skills. With Spanish as her native language, Mildred has been learning English for seven years but is always looking to expand her vocabulary and perfect her pronunciation. As an English speaker who studied Spanish for eight years, Theresa is striving to do just the same when it comes to her Spanish. Together they converse for an hour, or sometimes two, transitioning from Spanish to English and back. It has proven to be an excellent learning experience for both women, who now refer to each other as “mi profesora,” and spend the majority of their time together laughing while correcting one another’s pronunciation and learning new ways to express themselves in their second languages.
