The International Festival: A Celebration of Harrisonburg Cultures at Our Doorstep

The Harrisonburg International Festival.

Thousands of people ventured downtown Saturday, September 29th to experience a taste of the diverse cultures represented in Harrisonburg. The streets were filled with the smells of food, ranging from paella from Spain to falafel from the Middle East; the sounds of beating drums from the African Drum Circle; and a multitude of beautiful colors in traditional clothing, international flags, and bowls and bowls of fruit.
NewBridges IRC was lucky enough to set up our booth right in front of our office on Water Street. We had capiruchos, cookies, salsa dancing, and lots of sidewalk chalk! Here are some of our favorite moments from the day:

We are so thankful for all of our wonderful volunteers who donated their time and cookies. If you had the chance to stop by our booth, we loved being able to share that time with you. If not, we can’t wait to see you next year!
